About Me
Brian Lotz has golf in his blood. Son of PGA Tour Champion, Dick Lotz, and nephew of NCAA standout and All American John Lotz, Brian has been a life-long student of the game. He started helping others with golf at a very early age, by the time he was 16 he was teaching golf classes for the Los Gatos Recreation Department at the John Lotz Golf Range. At this time he was also a member of Pleasanton’s Foothill HS golf team which won 3 CIF titles in his 4 years.
Brian continued to pursue his love of the game attending the Monterey Peninsula College, where he was an all-conference player, and caddie at the Cypress Point Club and the Pebble Beach company courses. Living on the Monterey Peninsula he honed his skills against the great amateurs of the NCGA on some of the planets finest courses. Brian guided some great players and celebrities around the Peninsula tracks as he caddied in many of the PGA Tour’s AT&T championships. In 1990 he led Claudine Rubin around the Quail Lodge Golf Course to the California State Women’s Amateur Title.
Along with his Father Dick and Uncle John, Brian considers former PGA Tour player and longtime San Francisco Golf Club Professional Rick Rhodes and Cypress Point’s longtime pro, Jim Langley as his mentors. Brian continued his path into golf instruction as a student teacher for the PE Department at California State Stanislaus while attending and playing on the golf team in 1992. Turning professional later that year, he became the Head Teaching Professional at the Tri-Valley Golf Center in Livermore-Pleasanton CA. Through the 92’-94’ seasons he spent his time teaching at Tri Valley, playing mini tours and caddying for father Dick on the PGA Sr. Tour.
In 1994 Brian was the low scorer at his PGA playing ability test and began his PGA apprenticeship at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. While an assistant professional there he captured the 1994 Sierra Nevada PGA Stroke Play Championship, posting a 30 on the final nine to win over Butch Sheehan, whom later, played on the PGA Sr. Tour and is the brother of LPGA legend Patty Sheehan. Brian went on to become the Director of Instruction at Reno’s Wolf Run Golf Course, then the home of the University Nevada Reno Golf Teams, and later at the Genoa Lakes Golf Club in Minden, Nevada. During the years Brian spent in the Reno/Lake Tahoe region he showed his affinity for coaching as he also was an AASI certified snowboarding coach in the winter seasons at Heavenly Ski Resort.
Now, owner of an Insurance Agency in Northern California, Brian and wife Theresa, a professional fitness trainer, hope to help others live a healthy and prosperous lifestyle by building relationships through and golf, skiing, snowboarding and fitness!

Use the site to find resources for your athletic pursuits, deals from time to time, build relationships with other athletes, share worthwhile info about fitness and athletics.  There are sponsor opportunities for those who want to promote a business.  I've met some pretty interesting folks so far.  For example, I know who to call to go golfing when I come to Hayward!  :-)
